Fleabag writer and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge has already confirmed that the series will not be returning for more episodes. At the Emmy Awards press room, however, she reiterated that the show’s time is over.
After picking up Emmy Awards for best actress and best writer, the press were curious about whether she would now be reconsidering concluding the show so soon. Walder-Bridge revealed that receiving the awards affirmed her decision to end the show even further.
“I mean, to be honest, this just feels like the most beautiful, beautiful way to say goodbye to it, actually,” she explained.
“It does feel like the story is complete… It’s so nice to hear that so many people loved it. I’m a bit like, ‘Aw, damn it, maybe she shouldn’t have waved goodbye at the end’. But it does feel right.”
She added: “It feels right to go out on a high, and you can’t get higher than this.”
