The Fox and Disney Merger Does NOT Mean the End of “The Simpsons”

Fox' "The Simpsons." The end is near?

Does The Simpsons have a future at Fox? Executives of the network have answered.

The cartoon American sit-com is the longest running primetime scripted series on TV. Now that Fox is merging with Disney, however, people are wondering if Disney will renew the series after the 30th season this fall.

Dana Walden and Gary Newman at the network have now spoken out following rumors that the show will be canceled and have assured fans that this is not the case.

“The Simpsons is so much a part of the brand, there’s been such an incredible halo effect of that show and the other animated series that are on our Sunday night,” Walden said during the Television Critics Association press tour. “There are no plans for them to go anywhere other than Fox.”

She added: “Down the line, what kind of decision is made, I can’t really speak to, but for the foreseeable future, there’s so much upside and benefit to having a great, Emmy Award-winning, smart, provocative, quality show. There’s no consideration of not ordering more Simpsons.”
