Freddie Prinze Jr. is on board The CW’s Nancy Drew pilot.
The upcoming pilot has tapped the talent of the She’s All That and I Know What You Did Last Summer actor. Prinze will star opposite lead Kennedy McMann. Also starring are Leah Lewis, Tunji Kasim, Maddison Jaizani and Alex Saxon.
According to Variety, Prinze will play Carson Drew, Nancy’s father. Carson is described as a dynamic attorney who has become estranged from his daughter following the recent death of his beloved wife. His attempts to reconnect with Nancy run aground when her murder investigation reveals unsettling secrets from Carson’s own past.
The pilot hails from CBS Television Studios. This will be the studio’s third attempt to bring a series based the long-running series of mystery novels to the small screen.
Noga Landau, Melinda Hsu Taylor, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will all serve as writers as well as executive producers on the project. Set to direct is Larry Teng. Teng will also executive produce the pilot with Lis Rowinski.
