As the year comes to a close, Freeform revealed what the future holds for two of its fan-favorite dramas. The coming-of-age drama Good Trouble is coming to an end after five seasons, while the anthology series Cruel Summer got an axe after two seasons.

Cruel Summer premiered on Freeform in 2021, and it continued its life as an anthology series following the successful first season. Despite shifting its setting and focusing on different characters, both seasons centered on traumatic events that impacted its leading teenage duo over several timelines.

As for Good Trouble, this series was developed as the spin-off of The Fosters, which centered on Adams-Foster siblings Callie and Mariana after moving to Los Angeles. The series will conclude with the supersized series finale episode, set to air on Freeform in January.

Cierra Ramirez, who led this show alongside Maia Mitchell, bid an emotional farewell to her character on social media.

“It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to play a character on a show for 10+ years that has helped get important conversations started, pushed for transformative change in the world, & has inspired people to be themselves & find a place of comfort,” wrote Ramirez.
