Are the world’s most famous friends getting back together?

Multiple outlets report that a Friends reunion special is in the works at HBO Max.

According to sources, talks are underway for an unscripted Friends reunion special on the forthcoming streaming platform. Per The Hollywood Reporter, which was first to report the news, all six Friends stars —Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer, are in negotiations to board the project.

The reports definitely contradict what co-creators and executive producers Marta Kauffman and David Crane said during a Friends 25th anniversary panel at the Tribeca TV Festival in September.

“We will not be doing a reunion show, we will not be doing a reboot,” Kauffman said. “The show was about that time in life when friends are your family.”

“We did the show we wanted to do. We got it right, and we put a bow on it,” Crane added.

HBO Max and Warner Bros Television had no comment.
