Fans of Frozen spent six years waiting for its sequel and rushed to the theaters once this movie finally came out. A month and a half after premiering worldwide, this highly-anticipated Disney flick already managed to become the highest-grossing animated movie of all time.

Frozen 2 surpassed the record previously held by the original movie when it crossed the $1.3 billion mark on the international box office. This amazing achievement also turned this sequel into the 14th highest-grossing film of all time, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it surged even higher on this list, since it’s pretty close to surprising several other movies.

Frozen 2 premiered on November 22th, with Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff returning to their respective roles, and Sterling K. Brown, Evan Rachel Wood, and Alfred Molina joining the cast. Robert and Kristen Anderson-Lopez also came back to write the music.

In addition to being met with positive critical reception, this movie also scored several major award nominations, including two Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Awards nods for the best animated featured and the best original song for “Into the Unknown.”
