The 71st British Academy Film Awards, commonly known as BAFTAs, wrapped up on Sunday night at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Honoring the best national and foreign films of 2017, the 2018 BAFTA Awards were hosted by actress Joanna Lumley who took over the role from comedian Stephen Fry.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri took home five awards out of nine nominations, including the ones for Best Film and Best British Film. For their roles in the movie, Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell won the awards for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor respectively.
The Shape of Water, who had the most nominations with 12, won the Best Production Design and Best Original Music awards, while its director Guillermo del Toro ended up winning the award for Best Director.
Gary Oldman won his third BAFTA award, and first as an actor, for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, while Sir Ridley Scott got awarded the BAFTA fellowship for contribution to cinema.
