It’s already been three years since the latest season of Atlanta premiered on FX, and we’ll have to be very patient for the next chapter of this story. FX recently shared an update on the upcoming two seasons, and it seems we’ll have to wait until 2022 to get new episodes.

FX chairman John Landgraf discussed Atlanta’s future during the network’s recent TCA presentation. They’re struggling to lock down an exact release date because it’s driven by Donald Glover and Hiro Morai’s schedule and availability, but the critically acclaimed comedy series will most likely come back in the first half of 2022.

“We haven’t locked down the scheduling for Season 3 yet as it just finished shooting—it’s shot primarily in Europe. It’s in post-production and it’s a lengthy post-production process, and part of that is because they’re currently in production of Season 4 in Atlanta,” explained Landgraf.

In addition to Glover, who created the series, Atlanta also stars Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Stanfield, and Zazie Beetz, and centers on the misadventures of up-and-coming rapper and his music manager as they navigate the Atlanta rap scene. The show has been met with critical acclaim since its premiere in 2016 and went on to win two Golden Globes and two Emmy Awards.
