Shogun is one of the most anticipated new shows coming to FX next year, and the first trailer gave us a glimpse of this epic period drama. This thrilling mini-series will take us back to Feudal Japan and the first trailer promises an epic saga of war, passion, and power.

Shogun is based on James Clavell’s novel, and it’s set in Japan at the dawn of a century-defining civil war during the 1600s. It centers on Lord Yoshii Toranaga, who’s fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him when a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village.

The series also chronicles the faiths of John Blackthorne, an English sailor who ends up shipwrecked in Japan and forever changed by its culture and customs, and Lady Mariko, a formidable female warrior with invaluable skills but dishonorable family ties.

Hiroyuki Sanada, Cosmo Jarvis, and Anna Sawai star as Lord Yoshii Toranaga, John Blackthorne, and Lady Mariko. The show’s supporting cast includes Tadanobu Asano, Fumi Nikaido, Tokuma Nishioka, Takehiro Hira, Ako, and Shinnosuke Abe, among others.

Shogun will feature a total of ten episodes, set to arrive on Hulu and FX in February 2024.
