“G.I. Joe” TV Series Coming to Amazon

Adrianne Palicki in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation"

After previously being adapted to the big screen, Hasbro’s G.I. Joe franchise is now coming to television. According to Deadline, Amazon is currently working on a G.I. Joe TV series that will revolve around Lady Jaye.

Lady Jaye is an undercover operative who is a master of disguise and fluent in multiple languages. These skills, alongside her excellence on the field, have helped her successfully complete numerous undercover missions.

The character was previously brought to life by actress Adrianne Palicki, who portrayed Lady Jaye in 2013’s feature G.I. Joe: Retaliation. It is unclear whether Palicki will keep the role for the television project as well or the producers will decide to re-cast.

Erik Oleson, who previously worked on Netflix’s Daredevil, will write the new series while also serving as showrunner.

Reportedly, the G.I. Joe TV series will be a “standalone story,” but the project will be connected to the G.I. Joe universe.

A third installment in the G.I. Joe movie series, titled Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, is expected to be released by Paramount at some point in 2021 as well. The film will reboot and expand the franchise, focusing on the character Snake Eyes and a new team of Joes.

The previous two movies, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, received poor reviews but were modest box office hits.
