In the show, Missandei of Narth defended her queen. outside, the actress Nathalie Emmanuel who played her on Game of Thrones is defending the showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff against the backlash brought on them after the final season of the HBO hit show.
“In light of the reaction to the end of the season, which, by the way, I think most people I know enjoyed it – I think it’s easy to focus on the negative, and I think people forget what those two did,” said Emmanuel, reminding the fans the compelling first seasons. “And obviously the whole writing team and everyone responsible and involved, but I think people forget that… they literally made us hang onto their every word for 10 years. And to me, that makes them legends.”
It is not the first time Emmanuel is speaking out against the reaction to the final season (which included her character’s death). In an interview to TVLine, the actress spoke against the petition signed by fans to reshoot the final season. “Listen, I think it’s totally fine if you don’t like something. That’s perfectly acceptable,” Emmanuel said. “What I didn’t like was that people were signing a petition. You can’t ask for receipts on art. You just can’t. The art has been created for you, and you can either choose to like it or not.”
Other actors also defended the show including Conleth Hill who played Varys and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who played Jaime Lannister.
