The highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon has gotten a teaser trailer.

Set 200 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones, the prequel tells the story of House Targaryen and the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.

In the trailer, there are snippets of fight sequences and jousting with a voiceover from Matt Smith’s Prince Daemon Targaryen saying, “Gods, kings, fire, and blood. Dreams didn’t make us kings — dragons did.”

The cast includes Ryan Corr, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Graham McTavish, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, and Fabien Frankel.

The show was co-created by Martin and Ryan Condal. The co-showrunners are Miguel Sapochnik and Condal, who will also executive produce with Martin and Vince Gerardis.

The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood and it has been given a 10-episode order. It’s scheduled to launch on HBO Max in 2022.
