Filmmaker George Lucas of the Star Wars empire is this year’s Forbes’ richest celebrity with an estimated net worth of $5.4 billion. TV host Oprah Winfrey is the richest female celebrity and third overall with a net worth of $2.8 billion.
Lucas, 74, has been in the film industry for over 30 years and has been one of the world’s richest celebrities for a while. This year, the writer, director, and producer, topped a list that also included athletes, musicians, a magician, and a book author.
Lucas’ biggest income chunk came in 2012 when he sold his film production company to Walt Disney for an estimated $4.05 billion. Fellow filmmaker, Steven Spielberg, was ranked second with an estimated net worth of $3.7 billion. Like Lucas, 72-year-old Spielberg has been in the film industry for more than 30 years.
Oprah Winfrey was ranked third while NBA legend Michael Jordan came in fourth with an estimated net worth of $1.7 billion.
A new entrant to the list was Kylie Jenner, whose Kylie Cosmetic brand tied her at the fifth position with rapper Jay-Z for a net worth of $900 million each. Magician David Copperfield was ranked seventh with an estimated net worth of $875 million. Rapper and entrepreneur P. Diddy was ranked eight with an estimated net worth of $825 million.
At the ninth position came in golfer Tiger Woods and author James Patterson, who tied for $800 million each.
