Gerard Way, the former frontman of My Chemical Romance, has finally dropped the trailer for part three of his comic book series.

The third installment of his Umbrella Academy comic series was announced back in 2009. It has taken over eight years for the installment, titled The Umbrella Academy: Hotel Oblivion to emerge.

Way posted about the new trailer on Instagram, revealing: “I’m having a hard time containing my excitement over the fact that something named ‘oblivion’ is actually the start of so many new things! It’s a story about time and age and mistakes and redemption.”

He also shared snippets of the trailer:

Way discussed the project with The Hollywood Reporter, revealing: “It is intentional in its differences to the previously published material. It was what we had to do to keep it fresh for ourselves. We weren’t interested in telling the same kind of story as we had done before; we had evolved and changed as people and as creators, and I think we wanted to show that.”

He continued: “I think it was fairly easy for the two of us to ease back into these characters. It felt right. But we were able to bring how we changed into the world, which really appealed to us.”

“These characters really are a part of us — or there are parts of us in these characters. I do feel differently about the characters, and I think that is one of the most exciting things about this series. I discovered new things about them, and reprocessed old things about them saw them through a different lens. So there wasn’t so much relearning as there was further exploration.”

You can buy the first two installments of Way’s Umbrella Academy in stores now.
