Gillian Anderson joins the cast of Netflix’s The Crown.

Anderson, who is best known for her role as Dana Scully on The X-Files, has been cast to play Margaret Thatcher in season 4 of the acclaimed royal drama. The former British Prime Minister was the first woman to hold the position. She held the office of PM from 1979 to 1990.

The casting was announced via the show’s official Twitter accounts Sunday.

“I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of ‘The Crown’ and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman,” Anderson said. “Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface and dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether loved or despised, defined an era.”

This will mark Anderson’s second project with the streaming giant, the first being Sex Education in which she plays sex therapist and mom Jean Milburn.

The Crown season 3 will premiere November 17 on Netflix.
