Sir Elton John is going out with a very big bang.

The musical legend has been confirmed as the headliner for next year’s Glastonbury festival which will be his very last show. It signals the conclusion of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road which began in September 2018.

More than 300 dates around the world had been scheduled, with a few postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down” singer’s health. His UK leg, which includes Ireland, is set to commence in March, and will now officially end with Glastonbury.

“It gives me enormous pleasure to let you know that the one and only Elton John will be making his first ever Glastonbury appearance, headlining the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday night next year,” declared festival co-organizer, Emily Eavis. “This will be the final UK show of Elton’s last ever tour, so we will be closing the Festival and marking this huge moment in both of our histories with the mother of all send-offs.”

Although Glastonbury only takes place on June 21-25 2023, tickets for the event are already sold out.

“There is no more fitting way to say goodbye to my British fans,” John stated. “I can’t wait to embrace the spirit of the greatest festival in the world. It’s going to be incredibly emotional.”
