Golden Globes: Netflix Leads the Nominations with 42

The 78th Golden Globe Awards nominations were just announced.

The Father, Mank, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, and The Trial of the Chicago 7 were nominated for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Hamilton, Palm Springs, Music, and The Prom received nominations for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Emily in Paris, The Flight Attendant, The Great, Schitt’s Creek, and Ted Lasso were nominated in the Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy category and The Crown, Lovecraft Country, The Mandalorian, Ozark, and Ratched received nominations for Best Television Series – Drama.

It comes as no surprise that Netflix dominated nominations with 42 in total for TV shows and films including Mank, The Trail of the Chicago 7, The Queen’s Gambit, and The Crown. Following with 10 nominations was Amazon, which is home to Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and Small Axe. Hulu also received 10 nominations for films and TV shows including Normal People and Palm Springs.

Female filmmakers hold the majority of nominations in the director category with Emerald Fennell’s Promising Young Woman, Regina King’s One Night in Miami, and Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland.
