“Good Boys” Tops Weekend Box Office with $21 Million Opening

Brady Noon, Jacob Tremblay, and Keith L. Williams in "Good Boys"

Move over, Hobbs & Shaw because the Good Boys are back in town! The new comedy starring Jacob Tremblay managed to beat tough competition and top the weekend box office with an impressive $21 million opening.

To make the whole thing even better, this hilarious movie scored the biggest original comedy opening of 2019 and became the first R-rated comedy to top the box office in three years, since Melissa McCarthy’s The Boss managed to snag this coveted spot in 2016.

Jim Orr, Universal’s president of domestic distribution, is proud of the movie’s box office triumph and praised the creative team behind this project for delivering another success story.

“The bottom line is the film is absolutely hysterical. Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg knocked it out of the park. And [Rogen and Goldberg] are a brand and really own this space with a very difficult genre,” Orr told Variety.

Good Boys follows the adventures of three sixth-graders who are trying to make it through one really wild day. The Room star Jacob Tremblay takes one of the lead roles alongside relative newcomers Brady Noon and Keith L. Williams.
