HBO Max has several reboots and revivals coming our way, and the new version of Gossip Girl was amongst the most anticipated ones. This teen drama is finally here, and it became the steamer’s most-watched original series during the weekend following its launch.

The first episode of the Gossip Girl reboot premiered on HBO Max on July 8th, with another five episodes scheduled to air weekly. This is only the first slate of episodes, while the second one is scheduled to premiere later this fall.

The new show is a spiritual successor of the original Gossip Girl, but it doesn’t follow the same set of characters. It focuses on a group of rich and privileged Gen Z students attending a private school in Manhattan and navigating the world of Gossip Girl in the age of social media.

The ensemble cast of Gossip Girl reboot includes Jordan Alexander, Whitney Peak, Tavi Gevinson, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Emily Alyn Lind, and Evan Mock. Its first episode opened to viewers in 555,000 U.S. households, setting the new record for the first four days of availability.
