The third episode of Game of Throne’s final season is arguably one of the greatest pieces of telecom ever, but not everyone was thrilled by the production.

Entitled The Long Night, the one-and-a-half hour episode — the longest in the show’s history — consisted mainly of the battle between the living and the dead, the Battle of Winterfell.

Production of the epic showdown took 55 night shoots to film, all in the freezing cold of Belfast.

As was to be expected, the episode (which also featured snow and smoke) was incredibly dark, with many fans now expressing disappointment over the cinematography and being unable to see.

Battle scenes are often sharply edited, with one having to pay extra attention attention to who is being struck by a sword, and the exercise becoming even harder due to an absence of light.

While HBO declined to comment, fans on Twitter inserted some humour into their misery:

Let’s blame the Lord of Light.
