The complete list of the 2019 Grammy nominees is finally here!
This year’s Grammy noms include some major snubs and surprises. A partial list of select categories was announced on Friday on CBS This Morning by 2018 best new artist winner Alessia Cara, Apple Music host Zane Lowe, Janelle Monae, and Shawn Mendes. Later that day the full list was unveiled on the official Grammys website.
One of the list’s big surprises is that both Taylor Swift and Beyonce were shut out of the major categories. Swift scored one nomination and the Carters were nominated for three Grammys for music from their album Everything Is Love But that’s not all, two more artists who released new music during the eligibility period, Carrie Underwood and Nicki Minaj, were also snubbed and did not receive any nomination for the 2019 Grammys.
Despite those major snubs, this year, there are more nominees than ever, as the four biggest awards — Record, Album and Song of the year, as well as Best New Artist — have expanded from five to eight slots.
The two most-nominated people are Kendrick Lamar with eight noms, and Drake right behind him with seven.
The 61st annual Grammy Award will air live on CBS from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019.
