Put on your dancing shoes, because Greta Gerwig is taking us tapping!

Everybody loved La La Land which, in 2016, threw us back to a time which felt more like the 1930s. And now, it appears as though the Little Women director is following in the same vein.

“One thing I feel that the world is really missing right now is tap dancing,” she told Variety when asked about her next project. “I’m just going to say that.”

Singin’ in the Rain is probably regarded as the most famous tap-dancing film of all time, with the 1952 musical starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds featuring on many lists of the greatest features of all time. Gerwig has not directed a musical at this point in her career, though she has proven her mettle with Lady Bird which earned 5 Oscar nominations and picked up the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) and Best Actress (Motion-Picture Musical or Comedy).

While Gerwig did not offer a timeframe for the musical, it’s never too late (or too early) to go dancing!
