The New York Theater Workshop’s 2019/20 season will close with a new production of Anton Chekhov’s “Three Sisters” starring Greta Gerwig and Oscar Isaac.

The two, who are no strangers to the stage, will star in the off-Broadway production announced by the company Tuesday.

Tony award-winning Sam Gold, who directed Isaac in the title role of “Hamlet” and Gerwig in “The Village Bike” is set to stage the play, which details life in a Russian town through the eyes of the Prozorov sisters. After their father dies and just as the Imperial Army take their post in the town, the sisters yearn to return to Moscow to escape their dull lives in the small town.

Gerwig who was nominated for an Academy Award for her directorial debut Lady Bird, has recently wrapped production on her second directorial project, Little Women, starring Saoirse Ronin, Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet, Laura Dern, Eliza Scanlen and Florence Pugh.

Isaac is best known for his roles in films such as X-Men: Apocalypse and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
