Greta Gerwig’s fans have been anticipating her next movie ever since she swept them off their feet with Lady Bird. Their patience definitely paid off, since Oscar-nominated director just announced her next project. Gerwig will film an adaptation of the classic novel Little Women, starring pretty much every A-lister she could think off.

The upcoming period piece will reunite her with Lady Bird stars Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet, but they’re not even the biggest stars on the call sheet. Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Emma Stone will also be joining the cast of this star-studded film.

Newcomer Florence Pugh is currently the only relative unknown cast in Little Women, but we’re sure she’ll shine as brightly. Pugh was nominated for BAFTA Rising Star Award last year, thanks to her breakthrough role in underrated drama Lady Macbeth.

We’ve recently seen several TV adaptations of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel, but it hasn’t been brought to life on the big screen since 1994. It chronicles lives of four sisters who are looking for themselves as they pass from childhood to womanhood. Alcott’s Little Women is considered one of the most universally acclaimed coming-of-age tales of all time. We’ll see if Gerwig does it justice in a year or two.

Premiere date is yet to be set, but it already seems like an Oscar darling in the making.
