Guillermo del Toro’s “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” Gets Release Date

Guillermo del Toro’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is making its way to theaters this summer.

The film, based on Alvin Schwartz’s internationally best-selling book series, has been set for an August release.

The movie is produced by Academy Award-winner del Toro (The Shape of Water, Pacific Rim, Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth). Andre Ovredal directed from a script co-written by del Toro, Daniel Hageman, and Kevin Hageman.

The film follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town. Zoe Colletti was the first to be cast in the film, and she stars as Stella. Her co-stars include Michael Garza, Austin Abrams, Gabriel Rush, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn. The support adult cast to the primary cast of teens includes Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, and  Lorraine Toussaint.
