Multiple outlets report that Hair Live! musical has been canceled by NBC.

The news that the iconic rock musical is not be getting a televised production was announced Monday by the network. Hair Live! was scheduled to air on NBC on May 19, which means it would have competed against HBO’s series finale of Game of Thrones and the season finale of ABC’s American Idol.

“Live musicals are a part of this network’s DNA and we are committed to continuing that tradition with the right show at the right time,” Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment, said in a statement.

“Since these shows are such enormous undertakings, we need titles that have a wide appeal and we’re in the process of acquiring the rights to a couple of new shows that we’re really excited about,” they added.

NBC previously announced two additional live versions of A Few Good Men and Bye Bye Birdie, however, according to E! Online the production for the latter has already been delayed multiple times.
