Halle Bailey made her long-anticipated comeback to music with her debut solo single “Angel” this summer – and it turns out this was just the beginning! The Little Mermaid star revealed that she’s planning to release her debut solo EP by the end of 2023.

Bailey recently set down with Cosmopolitan for a cover story, which chronicles the impressive trajectory of her career in recent months. In addition to leading Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, she’ll soon appear in The Color Purple, but music still remains one of her biggest passions.

Bailey told the magazine she’ll definitely drop her debut solo EP by the end of the year, and described it as a modern R&B record with jazz elements and hints of pop.

“My music is definitely for the young girl who doesn’t know herself completely yet, who’s growing every day and learning about who she is and about her power. It’s an emotional, vulnerable kind of music. It’s also a love letter to myself and my younger self and my future self,” said Bailey.

Before turning to acting, Halle Bailey found success as a part of the five-time Grammy-nominated R&B duo Chloe x Halle, alongside her sister Chloe Bailey, who released her debut solo album In Pieces earlier this year.
