Halle Berry will star alongside Josh Gad in Roland Emmerich’s Moonfall, a sci-fi space epic.

Moonfall is about a mysterious force that knocks the moon from its orbit around Earth, sending it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. To save Earth from annihilation, a ragtag team launches a mission into space to land on the lunar surface.

Berry will play a NASA astronaut-turned administrator, whose previous space mission has a clue about an impending catastrophe. Gad’s set to play the scientific genius who concludes that the moon has fallen off its orbit.

Emmerich will direct the movie from a script penned by his 2012 co-writer Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen. The anticipated release date of the film is 2021 with production beginning this Fall in Montreal.

Berry wrapped her directorial debut with Bruised, where she also stars as a female MMA fighter. She recently starred in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Kidnap.
