Halsey conquered the music world with her chart-topping hits “Closer” and “Without Me”, and she’s now coming for Hollywood! The Grammy-nominated singer landed one of the key roles in the upcoming TV drama The Players Table, alongside Sydney Sweeney.

The Player’s Table is based on Jessica Goodman’s bestselling debut novel They Wish They Were Us. It’s a murder mystery set against the backdrop of an exclusive prep school on Long Island and follows a high school senior, Jill Newman, who tries to uncover the truth about her best friend’s death.

Sweeney will take the lead, while Halsey will play the role of Rachel Calloway, the emotionally troubled young woman who was once a member of the secret society of students ruling the school, known as “the players”. Sweeney and Halsey are no strangers to working together—they previously starred in the singer’s music video for “Graveyard”.

Jessica Goodman, the author of the original novel, described Halsey’s character as one of her favorites and said she’s “bold and brave” and “a force, just like the star who will play her.”

Halsey will produce The Players Table alongside Sweeney, and Annabelle Attanasio (Mickey and the Bear) will be in charge of directing it.
