Birds of Prey finally has a release date.

Since Margot Robbie’s debut as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, fans have been eager to see more of the star in the psycho turned anti-hero role. When rumors started flying that she Harley Quinn was getting her own movie, the internet went wild.

It has now been confirmed that the DC movie will hit cinemas on February 7, 2020. The movie will be directed by Cathy Yan.

Birds of Prey will not be a standalone film about Harley Quinn but it will be about the wildcard and her gang of vigilantes. Robbie described the movie as an “R-rated girl-gang film including Harley”.

“I was like, ‘Harley needs friends’. Harley loves interacting with people, so don’t ever make her do a standalone film,” she said. “She’s got to be with other people, it should be a girl gang. I wasn’t seeing enough girl gangs on screen, especially in the action space.”

She also teased: “There will be new Halloween costumes out there, one day.”

We can also confirm that True Blood star Jurnee Smollett-Bell will be playing the martial arts master with sonic-scream ability, Black Canary. Fargo’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead will be playing the skilled fighter, Huntress.

February 7, 2020 can’t come soon enough.
