Rupert Grint (aka Ron Weasley) admits he can’t watch most of the Harry Potter films.

Earlier this year, the star admitted that fame wasn’t something that came naturally to him. In fact, he actually came close to quitting the franchise after Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Now, he has confessed that he consequently can’t watch the movie or any of the instalments which follow.

“I think those early ones are OK. More time has passed. I can detach myself a bit more from that kid. I did see Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone not long ago, for the first time since the premiere, and I actually enjoyed looking back.”

When it comes to the later films though, he can’t quite bring himself to watch: “But the more recent ones I definitely couldn’t do,” he said. “I could probably go up to [third film] Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban.”

Part of the reason he struggles is due to the impact playing the character had on him. Grint added: “I struggle to remember life before it. I think I lost myself a little bit along the way. With the fame, you’re almost being the character even when you’re not in character.”

Even though Rupert Grint can’t watch the movies, we’re still planning to finish the Harry Potter franchise in time for the new year.
