The Brit Awards are one of the most-anticipated music ceremonies across the pond and we finally know who’ll be competing at this year’s show. The list of nominees is in, with Harry Styles and Wet Leg leading the way with four nominations each.

Both acts are in the running for one of the biggest awards of the night: British album of the year, along with The 1975, Stormzy, and Fred Again. Styles is also one of the nominees for British artist of the year, along with Central Cee, Stormzy, Fred Again, and George Ezra. Wet Leg is in the running for the best British group award, going head to head with the likes of Artic Monkeys and The 1975.

This marks the second year since Brit Awards abandoned the gendered categories, but this change isn’t the triumph it was supposed to be. The announcement of the nominations was met with some backlash because the artist of the year field is entirely male. The Brit spokesperson addressed the situation, blaming the lack of releases by “high profile women artists” and “trends based around the release schedule” on the lack of female nominees.

The 2023 Brit Awards will take place on February 11 at The O2 Arena in London, with Mo Gilligan returning as a host.
