The Rock’s HBO Comedy “Ballers” Will End After Five Seasons

Dwayne Johnson and Rob Corddry in "Ballers"

Dwayne Johnson’s schedule is so packed with high-profile blockbusters that people often forget he’s also leading the way in sports comedy Ballers. That’s going to change soon since HBO decided to pull the plug on this show after five seasons.

Ballers premiered in 2015, and centered on the glamorous lives of former and present football players who are either doing their best to make a name for themselves, or trying to stay in the game. It also starred John David Washington, Omar Benson Miller, and Omar Benson Miller.

The Rock announced the cancelation of this show in a heartfelt Instagram post. He thanked everyone who watched the show episode after episode and said his heart is full of gratitude to all the fans for rockin’ with them every season.

“You made us HBO’s highest-rated comedy for years and most importantly, you helped create and sustain a platform for other actors to have the OPPORTUNITY to work hard, grow and become household names,” wrote Johnson.
