HBO made us fall in love with period dramas all over again with their acclaimed historical drama The Gilded Age, and its next chapter is just around the corner. The great conflict between “old money” and “new money” will continue in Season 2, and HBO teased its release with a brand-new trailer.
The first season of The Gilded Age took us back to the late 19th century in New York City, and it saw members of the Russell family trying to use their newfound wealth and political power to infiltrate the rigid social scene of the Upper East Side.
According to HBO’s official synopsis, Season 2 will kick off on Easter morning 1883, when Bertha Russell’s bid for a box at the Academy of Music has been rejected, and here’s what it has in store:
“Through the eight episodes of the season, we watch as Bertha challenges Mrs. Astor and the old system and works to not only gain a foothold in Society but to potentially take a leading role in it. George Russell takes on his own battle with a growing union at his steel plant in Pittsburgh.”
Carrie Coon leads the ensemble cast as Bertha Russell, alongside Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denée Benton, Taissa Farmiga, Jack Gilpin, Simon Jones, Donna Murphy, Kelli O’Hara, Harry Richardson, Nathan Lane, Blake Ritson, and more.
Season 2 of The Gilded Age will premiere on HBO on October 29, with new episodes airing weekly.
