HBO is Plotting an “In Treatment” Reboot

Gabriel Byrne in "In Treatment"

HBO gave us one of their best shows of the late 2000s with In Treatment, and it seems they could bring it back. The network is considering a reboot of this drama series, which ended its run in 2010.

In Treatment was based on the Israeli series BeTipul, and it was led by Gabriel Byrne who won a Golden Globe for his performance. Its American cast also included the likes of Dianne Wiest, Melissa George, Mia Wasikowska, and Michelle Forbes.

In Treatment centered on a psychotherapist who treats patients at his clinic, and each of the episodes showcased weekly sessions with his clients and his own therapist. This TV format proved to be extremely successful, and several more countries around the globe aired their own adaptions.

HBO’s reboot is still in the early stages of development, but TV Line noted that In Treatment could easily be filmed under post-pandemic safety protocols. Most scenes in this series show two characters talking to each other while maintaining social distance.
