Several HBO Max originals struggled to make an impact since the launch of this streaming service, and that seems to be the case with Generation. This teen drama premiered earlier this year, but it was recently canceled after only one season on the air.

HBO Max released an official statement announcing they won’t be moving forward with the second season of Generation but took a moment to thank everyone who worked on this show.

“We are very proud to have partnered with Zelda and Daniel Barnz to faithfully and authentically represent LGBTQ youth with such a diverse group of characters and layered stories. We thank them and our wonderfully gifted cast for all their hard work and collaboration,” reads HBO Max’s statement.

Generation centers on a group of high school students in Orange County, California exploring their sexuality in a modern world. The first season consisted of 16 episodes, divided into two parts. The ensemble cast of this series included Nathanya Alexander, Chloe East, Nava Mau, Lukita Maxwell, Haley Sanchez, and Justice Smith, among others.
