HBO Max Orders Julia Child Series to Pilot

HBO Max has ordered a pilot for a series inspired by the life of Julia Child. 

Titled Julia, the one-hour show will explore the life of Child and her show The French Chef. It has cast British actress Sarah Lancashire to play the renowned chef and author.

Lancashire’s casting news follows news that Joan Cusack who was initially attached to play Child exited the project.

Also starring in the pilot are Tom Hollander, Brittany Bradford, Bebe Neuwirth, and Isabella Rossellini. 

Daniel Goldfarb will serve as the writer and executive producer on the pilot, with Chris Keyser set to executive produce and serve as showrunner. Charles McDougall will direct and executive produce.
