HBO Max Orders New Pilot From “The Good Place” Creators

Kristen Bell and William Jackson Harper in "The Good Place"

After The Good Place and Broad City, Mike Schur, Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky have just landed a new series. HBO Max has ordered a new pilot from the team for a comedy series.

The new series will focus on a Las Vegas singer and a 25-year-old  spoiled outcast and the dark relationship they form with each other. Downs, Statsky, and Aniello will be in charge of the writing while Schur will executive produce the series through his Fremulon production company. Downs and Aniello are also executive producing through their Paulilu production banner. Statsky, David Miner (3 Arts Entertainment), and The Good Place producer Morgan Sackett will produce.

Schur is responsible for shows such as The Good Place, Parks and Recreation, and The Office. The other trio is behind Broad Cit. Statsky wrote for Schur’s Parks and Rec and currently serves as an executive producer on The Good Place as well. She’s also written for acclaimed comedies like Forever and Lady Dynamite.

We don’t know much about the new developing series, but the track record of its creators certainly warrants some optimism.
