HBO has given us one successful Game of Thrones spinoff series with House of the Dragon—and there’s more where that came from! A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Night, based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk & Egg novellas, has officially been given a series order at HBO.

According to its official logline, this series will take place a century before the events of Game of Thrones and center on two unlikely heroes wandering Westeros: Ser Duncan the Tall, a young courageous knight, and his diminutive squire, Egg.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will take us to the age of Westeros when the Targaryens still held the Iron Throne, and witness “great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits” that await Dunk and Egg on their journey.

HBO has been considering several possible Game of Thrones spinoffs in recent months, and this one eventually emerged as a front-runner. Martin and Ira Parker will write and executive produce the project, with House of the Dragon’s Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis also serving as executive producers.

House of the Dragon is the first and only GOT spinoff to see the light of day so far, but several more are in the early stages of development. Most notably, the network is plotting a potential Jon Snow sequel, with Kit Harington returning in the lead role.
