HBO gave us one of the most critically acclaimed sketch shows in recent years with A Black Lady Sketch Show, and there’s more on the way! The Emmy-nominated comedy has been renewed for its third season days ahead of the Season 2 finale.

Creator and star of this show, Robin Thede, announced its renewal and said she can’t wait to push the show even further in the new season and to keep delivering the laugh-out-loud content to their audience. “Making A Black Lady Sketch Show is a dream come true, and I’m honored to continue our incredible series and wonderful partnership with HBO, Issa Rae, Jax Media, and our entire producing team,” said Thede in a statement.

Amy Gravitt, EVP of HBO Comedy Programming, echoed her words and praised her for breaking new ground in the world of sketch comedy and delivering a hilariously sharp second season.

A Black Lady Sketch Show premiered on HBO in 2019 and made history as the first Black women-led sketch show to receive an Emmy nod for outstanding variety sketch series. In addition to Thede, the series also stars Ashley Nicole Black and Gabrielle Dennis, and it often features guest appearances from famous stars, such as Issa Rae and Angela Bassett.
