The premium cabler sets a premiere date for season 2 of His Dark Materials

The series will be back as soon as next month, HBO confirmed. According to multiple outlets, His Dark Materials will launch its second season on November 16.

According to Deadline, news of the second season’s premiere comes as the writing team, led by writer Jack Thorne, are prepping scripts for a possible, not-yet-commissioned third season.

HBO programming chief Casey Bloys confirmed that the first season of the Philip Pullman books’ adaptation was very well received. “One of the things that I was hoping for, and the numbers we’re seeing bear this out, it is more of a co-viewing show than we’ve ever had. We don’t have many shows where kids and parents can watch together, and that was the idea with this show and it has done really well.”

Season 2 will star series regulars Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson, Amir Wilson, Ariyon Bakare, Andrew Scott, Will Keen, Ruta Gedmintas, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, who will be joined by newcomers Terence Stamp, Jade Anouka and Simone Kirby.
