Towards the end of 2017, Deadline reported that NBC is working on a revival of ’90s sitcom Mad About You with stars Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt both interested in returning to their roles of Paul and Jaime Buchman. Now, Helen Hunt decided to give the update on the project during her appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
“Now Helen, we can’t have you here without talking about this. Television audiences are so hungry for reboots right now. What is our status on the reboot of Mad About You,” asked the show’s host James Corden.
“In the tradition of not wanting it to suck, we would like to do it, although we felt very proud of what we did, we just don’t want to wreck it and make it sucky,” said Hunt. “That’s the goal, really.”
The 54-year-old actress also revealed that she discussed the revival with her co-star Paul Reiser at her kitchen table while inviting Corden to come over and help with the ideas. You can check out below the video in which Hunt talks about Mad About You revival.
Mad About You aired on NBC for seven seasons (from 1992 to 1999), and revolved around a married couple, Paul and Jaime Buchman, and their everyday life in New York City. According to Deadline, the revival of the sitcom would “reconnect audiences with present-day Paul and Jamie, who are suffering from a case of empty nest syndrome as their 17-year-old daughter Mabel goes to college.”
