Netflix gave The Witcher an early renewal for Season 4, but the series will look completely different once it comes back. Henry Cavill exited the series and passed the mantle to Liam Hemsworth, who’s set to play Geralt of Rivia as the epic drama continues its run on Netflix.

Cavill released an official statement announcing his exit, and he’s putting full trust in Hemsworth to do justice to one of his most iconic characters.

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf,” said Cavill in a statement.

His exit is pretty shocking for the fans of the fantasy epic series, but it makes sense in the grand scheme of things. It comes shortly after Cavill announced he’ll soon return as Superman in the DCU, after making a cameo as the iconic superhero in Black Adam.

We’ll still get to enjoy his performance as Geralt of Rivia when The Witcher returns for Season 3. The release date is yet to be announced, but it will most likely hit Netflix next summer.
