Jason Bateman and Laura Linney in "Ozark"

Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Meisel, HBO’s Succession, the comic book based Watchmen, and Eugene Levy’s Schitt’s Creek, are some of the shows that topped the list of nominees for the 72nd annual Emmy Awards, set to take place in September.

Ozark and Succession led the drama categories with 18 nominations each, while The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel dominated the comedy side with 20 nods.

Although the list of nominees doesn’t hold big surprises, some unexpected nominations include The Mandalorian, which was nominated for best drama series; the cult-favorite FX vampire mockumentary, What We Do In the Shadows received eight nominations, including one for outstanding comedy series; and Zendaya being nominated for best actress for Euphoria.

The nominees were announced in a virtual event hosted by Saturday Night Live alum Leslie Jones. Presenters for the event included Laverne Cox, Josh Gad, and Tatiana Maslany.

The ceremony itself will take place on September 20 and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. It is still unclear what format the ceremony will take as the coronavirus outbreak continues to take place.
