High School Musical: The Series still hasn’t premiered, but its future is already looking bright. This highly anticipated reboot is coming to the new streaming service Disney+ in a few weeks and it’s already been renewed for its second season.

Instead of simply remaking the original series of movies that starred Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, this show will follow a group of students attending the East High School who are trying to stage their own musical production based on the popular franchise.

Ricky Strauss, president of content and marketing for Disney+ announced the renewal of this show and expressed his confidence in creator Tim Federle and the rest of the creative team in charge of reinventing High School Musical for a new audience.

“Tim and this talented cast have delivered a first season that is uplifting, funny, touching and relatable across generations. We are confident that the world, like us, will want much more of these characters, incredible songs and moments of joy,” said Strauss.

The first season of High School Musical: The Series will debut on ABC, Disney Channel and Freeform on November 8th, before making its way to Disney+ four days later. It will be one of the first original shows to start steaming on this service when it officially launches on November 12th.
