Hilary Swank is heading to space.
The Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby actress is making another TV foray as she was tapped to headline Netflix’s forthcoming space drama Away from Jason Katims and Matt Reeves.
The two-time Academy Award winner will play American astronaut Emma Green, who must leave her husband and teenage daughter behind to command an international space crew embarking upon a treacherous mission to the Red Planet. It is a series about hope, humanity and how we need one another if we are to achieve impossible things.
The first episode was penned by playwright Andrew Hinderaker. According to Deadline, it is loosely inspired by Chris Jones’ Esquire article of the same name.
Jessica Goldberg has signed on to serve as showrunner. Universal Television is producing. Swank will also exec produce.
Swank’s recent television project was Trust.
