“Hobbs & Shaw” is Going Big and The Rock Sticks it to His Former Colleague

Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, and Vanessa Kirby in "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw"

The Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw started slowly in the box office, and in fact, had the worst opening in the franchise since Tokyo Drift and former colleagues of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson didn’t hesitate to take jabs on the star after it. Now, the movie has reached $716 million worldwide and is still going strong in the theaters – and he fires back.

When the movie began slow on the box offices, one of the Fast & Furious crew, Tyrese Gibson, was fast to glee, claiming The Rock is selfish and wondering if the spin-off will not turn out to be another Baywatch in his career.

Back then Johnson replied by saying that “The best way to shut the mouth of a clown (he used an emoji) is to flex with success and a smile.” Now he used the same imagery to stick it to Gibson.

“Assassins quietly play chess♟loud clowns play checkers,” The Rock wrote in a post on Instagram. “Thank you audiences worldwide for this incredible support and a massive win. Very cool and we’re grateful for the love 🙏🏾” the actor capped the post with some telling hashtags: #hardestworkersintheroom #hungryhumble #nocandyass (with a clown emoji).
