Betty White, the Hollywood legend often referred to as “the first lady of television”, died weeks before her 100th birthday. Many Hollywood superstars bid farewell to the Emmy-winning icon on social media and looked back at the amazing moments they shared together.

White passed away at the age of 99 at her home in Los Angeles. Her agent Jeff Witjas released an official statement announcing her passing to PEOPLE, saying he thought she would live forever even though she was almost 100.

“We will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again,” said Witjas.

After a successful career as a game show host, White got her big break during the 70s, while starring on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She cemented her status as a TV legend with the role on Golden Girls and made a comeback with Hot in Cleveland during the 2010s.

White’s death made the headlines on New Year’s Eve, and many Hollywood superstars took a break from celebrating the holidays to bid her farewell. Ryan Reynolds, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon, Viola Davis, and Robert Redford are some of the stars who shared touching stories about White and sent condolences to her loved ones.
