The war between two rivaling fractions of House Targaryen will brew in the second season of House of the Dragon, which is coming our way this June. HBO gave us a taste of things to come with a new trailer, which set the stage for the Dance of the Dragons.
The spin-off of the epic fantasy phenomenon Game of Thrones takes place nearly 200 years before the original series, and it chronicles the fall from grace of House Targaryen. The first season wrapped up with the death of King Viserys I Targaryen, setting in motion the war of succession known as the Dance of the Dragons that eventually led to their downfall.
Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke will return as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower, leading two rival clans of House Targaryen. Season 2 will also see Matt Smith, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans reprise their roles from the first season, and they’ll be joined by newcomers Abubakar Salim, Freddie Fox, Gayle Rankin, Simon Russell Beale, and Clinton Liberty.
House of the Dragon will return for its second season on June 16, set to feature eight episodes airing weekly on HBO.
