Canadian network CBC has given us one of their most popular comedy shows in recent years with Run the Burbs, and this series will soon be available to a larger audience. The streaming giant Hulu acquired the rights for the first two seasons of this beloved series.
Created by Scott Townend and Kim’s Convenience star Andrew Phung, Run the Burbs centers on a family man Andrew Pham who moves to the fictional city of Rockridge with his entrepreneur wife and two children, where they try to live their best lives.
In addition to co-creating this series, Phung also plays the lead role, while the supporting cast includes Rakhee Morzaria, Zoriah Wong, Roman Pesino, Ali Hassan, and Julie Nolke.
Prentiss Fraser, Fifth Season’s president of TV distribution, described Run the Burbs as one of CBC’s “incredible home-grown hits”, continuing the tradition started by Schitt’s Creek, Workin’ Moms, and Kim’s Convenience. She described Hulu as the perfect partner to bring the Pham family’s story to audiences in the United States.
The first two seasons of Run the Burbs will start streaming on Hulu on December 31, and there’s more where that came from! The third season will arrive at CBC on January 9, 2024, and it will feature a total of 13 episodes.
